Polite gift to take to an Indian lunch?

I’m going to visit my friend from work who is going to show me how to cook some real Indian food – her and her husband are both from India. I would like to take a gift – usually in this situation I would take some wine/beers/flowers.
What would be suitable? I don’t know if she/her husband drinks or not, and it’s a lunchtime.

You can’t go wrong with a nice bouquet of flowers (something unscented like Calla Lillies or Daisies) or a nice potted plant.
